I finished a new front triangle recently. Here are some pics of the build. This one has a steeper seat tube angle, higher bb and less progression than my last one.
I made a welding arm so I can be more comfortable when welding. I added another axis of rotation after these pics.
Here it is. I’ve only done one ride on it so far and my seat post is sticking so I need to figure that out. Pretty happy with the geo tweaks though.
Some frame builder friends that came over this summer. Burf from BTR, Rémy from Soum and Alex from Selwyn. Adam Prosise also came over but I didn’t get a photo of his bike. It was super cool to talk to such talented frame builders and show them my stuff! Adam had his Frameworks DH bike with a dropper and Transmission. His welds are incredible!
So rad, this is the inspiration for me to tackle a full suspension next year.
I’d love to see your take on a full suspension build! I need to tackle your fusion 360 tutorial this winter.
That looks great!
I’ve heard reports that some people have had issues with single-bolt clamps for some dropper posts. The clamping force is spread over a small area and compresses the post housing, creating a tight spot.
These work great
Thanks guys. I’ll try a different post and if that doesn’t work then I’ll try a second clamp.
I reamed my ST a bit oval, and my post was slipping a little. I cut a Coke can inside and after that there is no slippage with less pressure.
I wonder if I have a bit of heat distortion going on with the lower portion of the seat tube making it a bit of a banana shape. When I tighten the seat clamp bolt it makes the banana shape forces a too much? I’ll grab a Syncros post at work today and try that. If none of these ideas work then maybe this one becomes a DH bike and my DH bike morphs into an enduro bike.
