If you have the tools and skill to make a frame you have what it takes to make your own lugs. It just takes more time. Andy
Absolutely. For the right person who really wants to enjoy the journey and the traditional craft of framebuilding, making lugs might be appealing.
That might be a good topic for @EllisBriggsCycles to discuss here or on his Reddit channel.
I guess I am halfway there as I made a sleeve with carved ends!

I would add that brass is a lot cheaper than silver (accessibility) and more tolerant of less than optimum fits.
Hahn Rossman
More accessible on price but in my experiance silver is easier to teach to newcomers.
Silver brazing can be done slower which helps beginners when learning to control the torch and the heat. It’s easier to tell when your in the right temperature window. There is very little distortion. And the preparation work for silver brazing teaches good practice which extends to brass later anyway.
Not sure if I am using Reddit correctly but there does not appear to be anything new in about a week. And my posts will not show up.
I see this post made it through. Andy
