Share Your Advice For Those Who Are New & Want To Build A Bike

I like doing repairs and modifications. Seeing someone drop off a bike that they love and are worried about never riding again and then picking it up and being so excited to get their friend back is rewarding. Not rewarding in a way that puts food on the table but I’m banking major Karma points so, you know, I have that to look forward to.

Practise! Find an old frame, cut it up into 2" sections, and mitre and weld or braze them back together. Try all the difficult angles you will need to do on the real frame like around where the seatstays join the seat-tube. Practise until you can do it right and then keep practising until you can’t do it wrong.

It’s not hard, just takes a bit of time. The only thing you can do wrong is give up.
