Hi all. This is my first post. My name is Quinn in Beaverton, Oregon.
Here goes. I have a 1936 Schwinn that has a slight bend from the top tube and down tube
forward. I want to restore the bike. Any thoughts on a process to get it back to its original state. It was like this before i aquired it. Thank you.
Please post pictures.
Not sure if this is how to upload pics on this forum.
Overhead pic slight curve to right.
Its noticeable when i rode it. Kind of sidewinder.
New users can only post one image. Head on its noticeable aswell
I bet it’s possible to make a major improvement, but I don’t think you should expect perfection. Tool is park tool ffs-2.
You will need a big vise that’s solidly attached and a way to hold the frame without denting the tubes. I would buy appropriate tube blocks or make wood blocks to hold the tubes securely.
My guess is that the frame is made of straight gauge tubing, so you could be a little more rough with it.
I would clamp the bottom bracket and push on it until it is straight. It would really help to have an alignment table.
There are plenty of framebuilders in the Portland area. I would reach out to see how much they would charge to fix it.
