Mike Wilson here in New Zealand, I have designed a new frame building jig setup that is a geometry design tool and optimal tube fixture. Check it out - what do you think? Happy to engage with any feedback or interest. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IxmzD4v7lqg&t=2s
Hey Mike this is really fresh and clever! Really like the way you can scribe the HT miter and then quickly pivot it in and out of plane to check fitment. And as a small space dwelling, torch wielding troll this really appeals as well! Some really creative and well thought out ideas. Cheers!
I wanted to save it for when I get home, but I see you have it set to “made for kids”. It’s best to leave that off because then interaction is very limited, no comments allowed etc.
Sweet! I guess one of the limitations is that the tube diameters need to match what the jig is set up for? But yeah, really great job with this. Smaller and lightweight (easy to move around) is a big plus too.
Where in NZ are ya? I need to come pester you
Hi, I’m in Drury, South of Auckland. You’re welcome to come on over. PH: 021 176 3981
This jig will do 28.6, 31.7 & 35 Diameter seat tubes and any head tubes from 31.7 up to 46 and bigger with a bigger spigot. Other frame tubes can be whatever. Tube fixture part of this jig weighs in at 8.5 KG - you can flip it around for primo pos on welding!
Yeah I’M an occasional frame builder at best these days so liked it to not use up space.
Choice, I’m in Chrch but I’ve got family in Puky, I’ll buzz you when I’m next up
Nicely done, Mike!
