Hi! What alternative to Nickel Silver flux did u find it? i use it to braze nickel silver
All State Brazaloy 1113 paste.
Hey - a (possibly disappointing) updateāand some additional informationāfor all the brazing nerdsā¦
After chatting with Superior, they seem to have decided they donāt want to sell the Stainless Light flux through me. Iāve gathered that one of the original builders behind CycleDesign (and longtime builder) Dave Bohm is going to pick up the sales instead. (Maybe? Possibly? Iām not sure.) That, or Superior is going to continue to make it, and sell it through their own online retailer. (Maybe? Possibly? Who knows.)
The reason Iām not sure is because Superior has been ducking my phone calls and emails for a couple weeks now. Ha. In any case, it does sound like itāll eventually be available again. Fingers crossed. Iām sure the stocking levels and retail experience will beālike everything else in this weird little industryāabsolutely top-notch. (Kidding! Sorta. Do you still have a landline and PayPal account kicking?)
Finally, if youāre curious⦠I did have a sample of the FilletPro filler tested by a reputable metallurgy lab. It is indeed a regular AWS brazing alloy⦠BAg-34, readily available all over the place. As suspected, the flux was something unique, the filler not so much. (Why the white-label secrecy, I have no idea.)
And lastly, speaking of the flux⦠Superior produces two stock silver brazing fluxes, a white version (601), and a black version (601B). I was told Stainless Light was āmodified 601ā, and did include boron, which suggests that it was essentially a ālightā version of 601B. Could you whip out a popsicle stick and stir some 601 and 601B together to make your own creamy grey āStainless Lightā? I donāt know⦠But both of those products are available here: https://www.sra-solder.com/search/?q=superior+601
Anyway, sorry to disappoint⦠Iām not going to spend any more time on this one. Learned a lot about flux and filler, though! Hopefully the stuff becomes available again.

Thanks for trying and especially thanks for following up with this info!
Really appreciate the follow up. Thanks!
Chris, Iām sorry to hear this. FWIW, I bought five pounds from Superior a couple of weeks ago, and it arrived with the Acel label, not the Superior Flux label.
Curious, which flux did you purchase from Superior ? Thanks.
Superior number RZ2-S2A.
