This is my first build I’ve posted. I´ve been mainly reading and commenting, but never really properly posted anything besides stuff for sale. So, here I go.
I thought it would be fun to build an “enduro style” hardtail, so I went with this geo
Later on, I thought about adding some cool gussets, then I saw a French framebuilder (@khelonys) had already done something similar (but way cleaner!), so I tried it and it kinda worked.
I used CS as SS but the tire clearance is super tight with 2.4s
I´ve always wondered how some guys get enough tire clearance with these CS used as SS but I saw that some use Dedacciai CSs instead of Reynolds?
Tubing is Reynolds 631 and small parts and HT from PMW
Here´s a couple of pictures of the process and the finished bike. Haven´t ridden it properly since I´ve reached the toughest part of the process, which is bleeding Magura brakes.
Looks sick! I love a hardtail with a straight line from the headset to the rear dropout, looks like its going fast just sitting still.
I think I heard of someone using fat bike chain stays for seat stays? If memory serves (doubtful) the fat bike cs have a more angled bend that really helps with tire clearance when used as a ss. I think.
Really neat bike, love the braces. Whats the paint?
Yes, can´t wait to try it out!
The HT brace is a cool way to “frame” a small badge or something on the front. I might add something later on as a finishing touch.
Good info, never thought about looking for fatbike CSs, should be on sale now
Paint is just SprayBike cans, and a lazy crapy masking job for the gussets which have no protection and should slowly get some rusty look.
