Yesterday I outed Bob Freeman’s ebay sale of Takahashi BB shells.
Bob contacted me to tell me he has a lot of other FB stuff for sale and he pointed me to this Flickr album: https://flic.kr/s/aHBqjBjTar
He also has some number of forks, made by Tange for Davidson’s production road racer the “Challenge”:
Raw unpainted, $75 each.
Champion tubes, Campy tips, Takahashi HNR crown. HNR = Hitachi Nagasawa Road. Cast by Hitachi, design by Nagasawa, patterned after a classic De Rosa crown (Nagasawa apprenticed at De Rosa). Nice crown; I used it on my own #1 road bike. Also Richard Sachs used a bunch of them, back before he had his own crown made, much along the same lines but with improvements.
Note if you use one of these, you MUST shorten the steerer. Using it full length is a prescription for disaster, if the stem quill is tightening in the threaded part. I think Bob said these are best for frames around 52 to 55 cm, which is still a suspiciouly large range. Ask him to measure the unthreaded length for you, or if you prefer, the total length and the length of thread. From the pic, I’d estimate you need to shorten it by at least 6 cm.
