A few takeaways from that thread:
- people have experienced BB shells cracking with large vent holes
- larger holes lead to more distortion from welding
- I don’t think this is a deal breaker, but it’s just another issue to take note.
- People usually reference the BB for alignment, so it just makes things more difficult.
- Hard to prove, but a distorted BB could contribute to creaking
These are actually some cool reasons to try this. It’s definitely going against the convention, but then again, there is not really much convention around T47 BB’s yet.
