I made a 4-bar swing arm for my full suspension cargo bike

Hey all!
I made a 4-bar swing arm and wanted to share it with you guys! Noob fabricator here so go easy on my crappy welding  Though I did confirm on test welds that I’m getting good penetration to the other side with my amps and technique.

This is a custom bike that some amazing students from CalPoly made for me a few years ago. The swing-arm seemed under-spec’ed (or maybe it was just a bad weld) and it snapped on a giant california sized pothole one day. I had never made a moving part let alone one in 3D! It took many months and had to learn everything from jigging properly to doing some basic FEA and also CNC’ing stuff but its finally here and works just like it did in CAD! Some pics of the process are here for you guys to enjoy!

Next: Maybe some cross braces for the swing arm and then some paint!

Question: For stuff like cross braces on the swing arm which are a bit fit-dependent do you guys tig tack on the bike fully assembled if stuff is more than 0.5mm or so off and hard to squeeze?

The swingarm is the one in rectangular tubing with machined pieces.

Great work! Looks very strong and stiff. Please post some photos of the full bike.
