Considering a double cable guide (link below) on a Zona 35mm 8-6-8 down tube. The frame has 90mm of .8 tubing at HT/DT junction before tapering to .6.
Wondering if DT .8mm wall thickness is too thin for this cable guide? Guide requires an opening of 9.7mm x 32mm. Confident I can cut the hole very precisely, but nervous about the size of the hole, it’s much larger than a water bottle boss! Should I be concerned? Thoughts?
Thanks

The vendors I get these from usually have a reinforcement piece for those inserts.
If you’re worried about it, one of those might help.
Personally I would be ok with not using the reinforcement but on 0.6mm wall thickness you’ll have to make sure your heat control is on point. I assume you’ll be silver brazing these?
Thanks. The guide will be going through the .8mm section of the DT and yes, silver with heat control!
I use an internal doubling plate no matter the wall thickness or hole size. It may never be a problem without it but I’m not prepared to take that chance.
