Hey, Everyone!
I’ve been lurking here for a few months (since my wide and I took a class with @Schonstudio for my 35th birthday). Don’t have much knowledge to contribute yet, but happy to participate and share lessons learned— save other people the same fate if I can! Over the last few months I’ve wrapped up the first frame outside of class, (tag team build with my wife) as well as some racks, frame mods for a friend’s old steel hardtail, and (finally) started on an SSCX build this week. Early stages of working on a 32” gravel bike design for a friend that’s 6’4”
First up, this is the beauty from the framebuilding class in Nov. ‘25. 3,500 miles on it already, including about 1500 miles of bikepacking in AZ and WA:
Here’s a quick rack I put together for the aforementioned bikepacking trips after taking inspiration from a crazy Canadian friend that has some whacky seutps for ultras
(side note: building racks is a ton of fun! My process still needs some refinement, for sure, but still getting workable results so far)
And finally, a nice “classic” ish rim brake road bike for a friend that conveniently broke her carbon rim brake frame in time for us to make her a new one:
Learning lots from going through this all again without a watchful eye. So far nothing problematic has been done wrong, although I did just look at the sliding dropouts in my chainstay jig the other day and reclocked them to be parallel with the chainstay for some dumb reason, despite them being set to be level with the ground the night before ![]()
Anyways, looking forward to contributing when/how I can!
