Anyone here have experience brazing a lugged frame with both brass and silver? I have a lugged front triangle done with 50% silver. I need to put the chainstays and I kind of wanted to use brass because the fit is not as snug as well as I just ran out of silver. I imagine some of the silver will move around when trying to braze up the chain stays in the bb socket with brass. If I slather everything with the brass flux, and that silver moves will no longer cause a good silver joint? Should I really just wait for more silver? Was curious what would happen to a silver joint with brass flux.
If you have any doubts, or lack the repetitive experience to know the answer, I recommend waiting until you replenish your supply of filler materials.

The silver will probably be fine. Heat control is a big topic, but you shouldn’t get the seat tube socket ripping hot doing the CS sockets.
Having said that, practice is different than theory. Give it a try and if the silver leaks out you can rebraze that with the silver when it shows up. Cover everything in flux to protect it from oxidation.

You actually have to work some to get the silver to move. It really doesn’t have much reason to flow. I wouldn’t do it, because I would get more silver, but I also wouldn’t worry about it.
