Mounting ebike battery

Hello. I’m not a Framebuilder but have a question and figured this was the place to start.

I have an aluminum tandem that I’ve converted to ebike with a Bafang kit. It’s a traditional frame with the extra tube from head tube to rear BB. I want to mount the battery on the bottom tube but there’s not enough room to slide the battery in and out of the mounting bracket. Can I drill through the bottom tube and attach bracket to frame with a through bolt from underneath or will this weaken the frame.

Thanks

The tube will deform and battery will come loose. If you retighten it, the tube will just ovalize more. Since you are not a framebuilder, use a King Cage universal support bolt or a similar product.

Thank you for your suggestion. Unfortunately, that won’t allow me to slide the battery and mounting bracket out to the side as needed. I guess I’ll leave it on the down tube.
