Paragon post caliper mount

Would it be possible to use this part:
“SRAM full mount/UDH post caliper mount, 160 rotor no miter”
for 180mm post mount? I have looked at the dimensions for where it needs to be placed for 180 and it seems like it would work but I’m curious if there’s something I’m missing? Thanks!

I would say unlikely as 180mm post mount sits further from the seat stay/dropout and would require longer “legs”. But a quick model or drawing would be able to confirm either way. Worst case you run an adapter.

Also, its worth including a link and/or picture with any question here. Will help with people giving answers and also for posterity’s sake. For anyone else This is the mount in question.

Thanks for posting the picture @bushtrucker . Yes that is the part I’m referring to!

I was in the process of designing a brake mount, so I threw those two 3D models (thanks Paragon for putting those on your website) together to see what happens. Here’s how they would look with a 16mm diameter seat stay.

You wouldn’t be cutting off a lot of the brake mount, but it looks like you would be able to use it for 180 post.

Wow! Thank you @Spencermon looks like it will work for my build!

Good luck. Make sure to post your results. I don’t know everything, but it doesn’t look like a ton of material attaching the brake mount to the seatstay. I hope it is rigid enough.

I was thinking I may add a small plate brace in the middle

I hacked up an IS mount and shoved it in that big open space. Should be plenty rigid now. I like how it looks too. Going to run an adapter and 200mm rotor on the rear.

0/10 do not recommend doing what I did but it did end up sorta working. Kind of a pain in the ass but got it welded on for 180mm disc.

Super cool that worked! Can we get a pic of the inside too? How necessary do you feel the extra brace you welded in is?

I don’t have a picture of the inside right now I’ll get one later. Towards the dropout I used every bit of that extra plate that I added to the tab. If the seatstay we’re butted to the inside edge of the dropout it would work easier I think , but it was spaced in maybe .200” or so because of the asymmetry of those udh dropouts. So that made the disc tab barely touch the seatstay. I cut the front which lowered it and built up the edge a hair and got it fitting pretty good but it was a lot of work.

Picture of inside of tab. Kinda wonky haha. Got more blueing on that tab than I would have liked too. But here’s a couple shots of the completed frame. Really happy with it.

Could not have built this without the awesome parts from paragon! And all the helpful info I’ve learned from this forum

That looks like a proper fun bike too. Mighty jealous of a fun hardtail like that. I can see why you wanted a 180 brake mount
