I know that flat mounts usually get faced but is post weld machining or facing generally done on post mounts? I wasn’t able to find information about it so I went ahead and faced these and maybe only took .001" off. Possible that I didn’t need to bother but I’m unfamiliar with this process so I opted to be better safe than sorry. So I’m just curious if this is something that people do or if its not really that critical. Thanks!

Those look like they were machined anyway before you bought them! Unlikely to have moved much during welding/brazing I have used cast post mounts a couple of time and not machined them or anything. However, if you can, why not? There’s nothing like perfectionism

And there’s nothing better when installing a brake to have them perfectly centered and straight. I swear I can feel a difference when I use brakes with perfectly faced brake mounts.
