I was just talking to my welding supplier and they said the price of silver filler is “way” up. Still waiting for prices to come back… Last time I ordered in 2023 I got 5 oz of Lucas Milhaupt 45% for $137 CAD. What’s everyone else paying?

It seems to be 55-65$/toz (Canadian) depending where you buy. Haven’t found anything cheaper than that in a few years. You can save a little bit buying volume but not much, maybe 2-3$/toz, and last time I checked the best volume break was at 25toz. It doesn’t go bad, but that’s a LOT of silver.

Just purchased 5 oz of 56% at 65 CA/oz. I looked around Canadian sources and didn’t see better - got Linde to quote on a 5oz package but it was more expensive than buying five 1oz packages from CWS, and CWS has free freight. Bringing shipments of silver across the border costs big time for exchange rates/shipping/brokerage/etc so I’d prefer no surprises and use a Canadian source.
Dunno what the program did to my post, price should read $65 Canadian per oz.

As a guide to lower Ag alloys, I recently bought 1000g of Metabraze 130, 30% Ag for £460GBP
I reckon that works out at around 24CAD per Oz.

Looking at ordering some Soudotec 6045-B which should avoid some of the tariffs and such and hopefully come out around $20-30 / oz, maybe less than a dollar per gram if I’m lucky.
Update on the previous message, the price of Soudotec at Linde Canada has pretty well doubled in the last year, we’re up to 1815$ per kg ($56 CAD per troy ounce). Lucas Milhaupt is even more expensive as it is a tariffed product..

Here is the one year and ten year price trend of silver if anyone is interested. What a time to be alive. Should have been investing in silver commodity instead of being in college, I guess

US just minted silver from $90 to $170 overnight. Looks like the new price is already reflected on just about every supplier I can find right now. Ouch.
Would recommend if you find anything that hasnt been price adjusted yet buy it NOW cause we are in for a rough time. I would guess there will be a shortage soon from people scrambling to purchase any lower priced stock anywhere.
