Heya,
Does anyone have real world tire measurements for 700x45-ish, 700x47-ish, and 700x50 tires?
Ideally I’m looking for the following:
Tire Model | Published Size | RW diameter | RW width | rim tire was mounted on.
Thanks!

From the tire width measurement of a specific tire (see CX/Gravel Bike Tires Test Results | Bicycle Rolling Resistance), the fact that those measurements are done with a 17.8mm inner width and the measurements at The Rim Width Test | Bicycle Rolling Resistance you can deduce what the actual tire width will be with the inner width that your particular rim has.
Diameter you can get by (assuming a 622 rim = 700c): 633 (external rim diameter) plus two times the “tire height” that bicyclerollingresistance also measures for each tested tire.
I have pretty much exactly what you need. We’ve been collecting some of this data on and off over a few years now.
Took the opportunity to clean up some of the data and made it a publicly editable spreadsheet, so anyone can add to the list.
There are two tabs. One that’s protected and can only be edited by me, the second one called “Tire Data (Public Entries)” can be edited by anyonen with the link. I’ll check in now and then and add any valid data to the main list.
I’ll be adding more of what I have in the coming days.
Access it here:
thanks @JMY! Very helpful.
I started my own list recently. Its a WIP, so I don’t want to share it yet. But when I get more datapoints, it would be great to make a validated mega-list.
For offroad tires, I have found the knob diameter more critical for clearance than the overall diameter:
This is how I call out my tires (and measure them)
That’s a good point for sure.
This list that I have was initially started by a former colleague of mine and I’ve been meaning to adress this shortcoming. Always room for improvement!
Thanks guys! This will be super awesome to have.
I have a few tires here that I can add to the spreadsheet this week.

WTB will provide incredibly detailed drawings of all their tires. Just reach out to the CS team with specific tire requests and they are typically quick to respond with the drawings. They even have drawings for multiple rim internals for the same tire. Below is an example. Not the size you’re after but you get the idea.
Edit: Forget that. I didn’t see that it’s a 650b rim at first…
I’ll edit the columns to include the knob diameter too.
Let’s get accurate!
