Reaming Load Question:

Hey Folks,

I found a bunch of 1.5 x .095" (38mm OD 33.27mm ID) 4130 in my scrap pile.

Am I looking for trouble if I use this for a HT and attempt to ream afterward? For clarity I’ll be reaming by hand and using a Park set-up (33.9mm).

My gut says, “Don’t do it.” but the Cheap AF in me says “YES YES YES!”

I have used that size tube for headtubes on 3 bikes, works fine. It’s a bit heavy so if you have a lathe I would suggest skimming the centre section and leaving it full thickness on the ends.

Thanks so much!

Yeah it’ll be heavy but I think that works in the world of custom beach cruisers.
