Hi there, I am rally hoping someone has the answer, since I’m preparing the last bits for bespoked Dresden. Got Ritchey’s Break-Away lugs and couplers, never looked close to the latter. How do they work? One part has set screws, but how is the other cable attached? It just slips through the left part …
Thanks a lot for your help!
Johannes
I’ve never used them but maybe you need a cable head in the left piece and use set screws for cable end on the other?

That’s a good idea! I’ll check it.
Restless is correct- brake cable runs as normally until it goes into the body in the right of your picture- double set screw holds the free end of the cable. Other end gets a second brake cable with the ferrule on the inside of the barrel, which exits and goes into the caliper. Same for the shifters with the exception that they only use a single setscrew!
