these guys are great, done a fair bit of work with their products on furniture projects. Their you tube and website is a wealth of knowledge too and well worth a few hours investigating!

But will it take away a layer of metal thereby weakening a bicycle tube?
I’ve watched a bunch of videos. One of my bosses (who likes to make stuff too, but he also has a higher budget) told me to check out laser welding a couple of years ago.
None ever go around corners, show round tube mitering, or anything nearing the complexity of CS/BB cluster. The torch looks a lot bigger than my CK9 TIG torch so I don’t know how practical that would be.
The welds do look nice.
Also the safety is an issue since they have a very long range. Most operators work in some sort of enclosure.

Just seen this one by @Daniel_Y. The most comprehensive overview of Tiawanese manufacturing I’ve seen. Their process is dialed. No wonder those bikes are so affordable (and so good!).

Great insight , not a big YouTube/video guy but I appreciate @Daniel_Y effort for bringing in different aspect of framebuilding.

AHA! I’ve been idly forming theories about the reason for the seat tube stickout for ages. I never guessed it was to provide clearance for a seat clamp slot punch. That’s a neat little punch press too, shop made.

My favorite(s) were David and Berkeley Bike Builders who both had aluminum lug + carbon tube full suspension frames. As a recent college grad, I’m really excited to see students taking advantage of some newer tech to enable some amazing creations.

I stumbled upon this Youtube video titled

While it’s not handmade or custom, it is steel and a mini Velo e-bike. Some interesting topics covered as well. I think it helps people understand what’s going on with tariffs and why bikes are so negatively affected.
