Sikocycles 32er build log

A slow build since this is my 3rd frame. I will be brazing for the first time. Bring 6’5” freedom units it will fit me well.

You did a nice job on the proportions for such a large bike! It looks great.

Excited to see where it goes!

First time brazing. The dropper port went in ok.
The bottle studs were a failure. Tried twice and the silver would not wick under and would just fall off. I gave up before I damage the seattube.

are the bottle bosses stainless? I haven’t accidentally tried to braze stainless without the proper flux, but that could be a problem.

Sure as sh!t they are. That must be the issue. Good call. Thank you.
So 56% silver with U type flux did not work.
What should I use?
I have nickel silver and bronze rods. Plus type U,B and G flux.

Someone with more experience might correct me here but I think you want to be using the lower temp type G flux for 56% silver on stainless, especially for bosses like that that don’t need much heat.

I just got a new torch to try the braze ons. I should have some updates next week.
Just need to figure out flux and filler.

So progress to report.
Tubes mitered. Just need clean them up and final fit.
Braze the bottle bosses and cable guides. Then weld. Still deciding on 148 or 157 rear. Can’t decide.

I’d just go the 157. I did a geomtery analysis and I reckon there is enough in it to warrant it.

Ready to silver braze. Still deciding if I like or don’t like the diamond reinforcements.

I use stainless wahers that are pressed in my paragon tube blocks to match the tube diameter

Welded the seat tube today. Came out ok. I think it would work. For the DT fitted up. Will clean and tack it up.

Ok it’s been a while. Finished up the frame. The rear was a PITA as always. It will work but the welds are ugly

Painted with rattle can. It’s ok not perfect.
