Hey I’m looking to invest in a T47 bb tap, but I literally can’t find a single one for sale, not even park. Anyone got leads?
You can find them, but those taps aren’t cheap!
Universal has them in stock for about $500 each (so like 1,000 for the pair): Universal Cycles -- Park Tool Bottom Bracket Taps, Guides, Facers [692, 693, 647L, 647R, 648L, 648R]
If you have a QBP account, they have them in stock too for about half as much: https://www.qbp.com/qbponlinestorefront/p/TL5306 and https://www.qbp.com/qbponlinestorefront/p/TL5307.
I found some left and right taps on ebay , , they are not for bike tools but large taps , M47 x 1.0 left and right . Had to purchase from two separate suppliers they were like 80$ plus shipping of like 20$. They worked well , They are from China , so best to order before the de minimus ends on May 2nd , if you are in the US.
Buy Cyclus from one of the German online stores.
VAR T47 taps seem like awesome value when compared to the Park stuff- I just bought them brand new through Mel Pinto Imports in the USA and paid $360 total for left and right ($180 each). He just restocked last week so should be in stock!
I have a pair of the Park ones I’d be willing to sell. They would likely be fine for doing steel frames but would need to be sharpened for Ti. I was too busy to send them off for sharpening and just bought another pair instead
Howdy, Torch and File has T47 b.b. taps in stock here in Portland, Oregon: SILVA ART. 107/109 T47 MACHINE QUALITY BOTTOM BRACKET TAPS, PAIR
Please let me know if these are interesting for you. Cheers, Andy andy@strawberrybicycle.com
I bought a set of T47 taps and facer with handles, Cyclus brand, from Peter at Ceeway. Can’t recall the price, it was a couple of years ago, but I remember it was far less than Park etc. I’ve used the set a few times, no complaints. Very nicely made tools.
