TIG Cable Cover? Should we bother?

Just wondering if anybody uses a TIG cable cover. This is mostly for TIG welders. Most of the amps we are using on thin-walled frame tubing is low amp. And there’s not really any welding spatter. I can see how your TIG cables would last longer with a cover, but seems a cover would take away some of the lightness and maneuverability of the super light and flexible TIG cables. So, just wondering if it’s worth it to do. Getting TIG cable covers, that is.

I use a cover, saves the cables also from touching hot stuff, dragging on the floor, getting run over directly by that notorious wheely park tool shop stool etc etc.

for better or worse, I was taught to lay the cable (in cover) over my neck/shoulder anyway, both to take the weight of the majority of it off the torch (just the neck to hand length is on the torch) and to know if you’re getting the cable hot.

I use the red CK “superflex” cable just as it comes. Very good for not getting in your way, but I also put it round the back of my neck. You don’t want it suddenly pulling on the torch. And I just use a regular No 9 torch (without a flex head). Everything is so small and light you can just hold it how you want it and I find that easier than moving the head around.
