woah, i didn’t know this post existed! this will be super helpful to me to start figuring out frame geometry in fusion. totally gonna do your tutorial asap!
Yeah, that was my idea too, but how do I then fix the imported bottle component to the DWG sketch? I’ve tried aliging the base sketch line from the bottle to a line drawn at the tube surface between the 2 points, but that doesnt work. Also moving point to point didnt do the trick. Is there another way to connect the dots?
OK, but how do I join the sketch to the holes? Wheres this function/button/shortcut in Fusion?
The tricky part is getting the joint to snap to the correct spots on the line. on a PC, hold CTRL when you hover over the line to lock the selection points.
Yes! Thanks! And the tricky part in this case was me not realising the Joint command did what it does. Man, it is very satisfying building a bike like this and just have other sizes generated including the build drawing and even the parts I want printed.
I do find I have to unlearn a lot of the 15+ years I worked with Autocad and 3D studio Viz as Fusion is almost working in the opposite direction.
Thank you @Daniel_Y for putting this together! I’ve been working on my design for about a month and I think I’m just about there!
That is one sweet looking ride!
Thanks! I’ve been plugging away at it and I think it’s just about there.
Thank you for the guide. Started work on a base design with inclusions of parametrics thanks to the video by cobra frame building.
@Daniel_Y got a question for you. How would I constrain a straight line off of a curve? I’m trying to do the braze-ons for a bolt on frame bag, and I just can’t seem to get everything constrained in the sketch.
I use a construction line, constrain it to be tangent to the curve, and perpendicular to the line.
That did it, thanks!
Just chiming in to say that I watched your tutorial 3 times as I learned Fusion. Unbelievable contribution to the community! I have your YouTube channel on the bookmark bar. I’ll be posting some of my learnings and first draftings of my wooden bike soon on my build log thread.
Thank you!!!
Ugh! I have a splitting headache now, but I think I got there! Steep learning curve for me, thanks so much for making all of this available. This place is amazing.
Well done!
It is such an amazing resource! Nice job on your first virtual frame!
I dig the AborVelo name for wooden bikes!
Anyone had problems with a SS sketch not showing up in the auxillary view? In my design sketches just dont show there and therefore - this view is basically useless. Thanks
