What the FLUX!? Liquid flux in line issue with Gas Fluxer

I purchased a used gas flux setup from another builder a couple years ago and I love it. It has helped my fillets and workflow. I have a cheap gas saver I also use and I always turn off the tanks, purge the lines and close the lines to the flux unit at the end of the day.

I went to light the torch the other day after turning on the system and the torch tip lit up with flux spewing out the tip. It seemed the whole line was full of fluid. I disconnected the gas fluxer and finished the work with the line going directly to the acetylene tank. It’s not ideal but got it done.

The lines are old but only a few years and no sign of flux contamination on the outsides of the hoses.
Has anyone experienced this issue? Any tips?

I haven’t torn into the system with the holidays but plan to tomorrow. Thanks in advance.

Nice seeing you on here Ira!

Is your lower section (the bubbler for lack of a better term) full to brim with liquid flux? I think that would allow the gas pressure to push liquid out.

It should just bubble the gas through the liquid — it’s really just a fancy bong.

I’d also check the mixing valve (the center one on my gas fluxer) which controls how pure gas and gas that has gone through the bubbler mix.

Haha excellent. But don’t smoke out of it.

The one time I had liquid flux coming through the hose it was that mixing valve Alex mentioned, turned up too high.
