Where to get BB adapters and dummy axles for Academy LCFF?

What do UK-based LCFF owners do for spares (BB adapters, dummy axles) now that the Academy is no more? I recently bought a second-hand LCFF, but it came with only a 130mm dummy axle and no BB adapter.

It looks like the dummy axles are anvil standard, so the PMW ones should fit, but where can I get them in the UK? I’m looking for 135x10 and 148x12.

For the BB adapter I’m looking for a T47 adapter initially, and maybe BSA in future. Are these a standard too, and if so who makes compatible ones?

Thanks!

There are a few options.

  1. Buy a lathe, invaluable for making bike frames.
  2. Make up a drawing and get a local machine shop to make them.
  3. As above but jump on your local hobby machinust FB page snd see if someone wants a weekend cash job…
  4. There may be a builder on here that has a spare they are willing to sell.
  5. Order from Paragon

I would design the pucks and send off some quotes to Chinese machineshop, like PCBWAY (https://www.pcbway.com/)

I guess they would be $30-40 per puck

Thats always the problem. Unless you start with way more room than you need, everytime you add a machine or new workstation it comes with needing more space.

Seriously though, I use the lathe I reckon 9 out 10 times Im in the workshop. It gives you so much capability and you dont need a big one for frame building.

Hopefully one of the builders with a lathe close to you can help you out.

I have both T47 and BSA adapters, if you need measurements I can provide them, or even a picture so you know what they look like.

There are people in Europe making the ‘standard’ dummy axles you require.

If it’s useful, I used these simple drawings to get some T47 BB adapters made for my LCFF.

T47 puck LHS.pdf (52.0 KB)
T47 puck RHS.pdf (66.1 KB)

Peter at Ceeway stocks a lot of the PMW stuff - I don’t know if he carries stock of dummy axles though but definitely worth asking.

It’s really useful, thanks!

I was curious why the distance to the BB mating face is 15.5mm compared with 15.75mm for the 68mm BSA adapter, but it looks like the T47 BB shells are 1mm oversize vs BSA being 0.5mm oversize. They think of everything :grinning:
