WTD: Stainless Chain Stays?

Hi,

I don’t know if anyone can help but I am looking for a pair of stainless chain stays ideally with an “S” bend of some sort. I am finally getting around to building my wife a new frame which will take a 40mm tyre. I am in the UK but just trying to see what is available as there doesn’t seem to be any in stock in the country at the moment.

Thanks in advance,

Richard

Have you tried Reynolds? 953 has been sadly discontinued (not that I ever used it, but it was still cool) but they may still have some lying around, and there’s also 921. @PSantana might know.

Otherwise Ceeway can get you Columbus XCr (although not sure if any of those have S bends).

Why do you need stainless? It’s quite an unusual choice.

Gebla in Germany offers some from XCR:

XCr is available in an S bend. Peter at Ceeway usually stocks them. In the US, KVA supplies S bend MS3 stainless stays.

One thing to consider is, do you braze or weld? Reynolds recommends just one of their stainless for brazing. Sorry, can’t remember if 931 or 921. So, once again: ask Reynolds! They are happy to help you.
