Great work! Thanks for showing your process, it really helps me visualize how to make a carbon bike.

It surprises me how useful 3D printing can be, especially with carbon fiber bikes. Great work!

Even a professional company like Argonaut uses 3D printing in their carbon bike process.

In their case, they 3D print a mold to pour a silicone mandrel:

The clamshells are still machined aluminum, but the silicone mandrels help them get the compaction they need. No idea how they get them out though

Yeah. In a lot of ways it’s quite fortunate that I can use 3D printed tooling. Get it anywhere near a brazing torch and it would be game over!

I have explored various ways of making bladders including a style similar to Argonaut. But I think I’m getting close to a workflow I’m happy with. Although I’m keeping it close to my chest as it seems to be the secret sauce that no one wants to show.

Do you think I should keep up with the videos? I worry that I’m basically giving away years of my work for free!

Love your videos. As an amateur I’ll never be your competition and I appreciate what you can share.

Thanks. I wrote that in the morning when I had just woke up and I have spent the day thinking about it. I will continue to do videos and not worry about revealing any hard earned techniques. At the end of the day this job is 90% determination 9% skill and a little bit of dumb luck!

Brad Bingham has a few really cool videos uploaded.

I was watching this one the other day and learned some cool tips. Nothing compares to watching someone with decades of experience.

Thanks for sharing. Using a parallel block on the FM to visually make sure it is aligned is a great idea:

Here is a free tig course if you sign up. I am not affiliated. I did sign up to check it out.
It for SS but may get some help.

Figured I’d add my channel to the list. Very DIY/low budget/hobby-level framebuilding. Only 2 videos so far. Planning on a new vid every other week.
