I assembled the darn thing today. Here’s how it went. I’ll feature the negatives!
- Alignment of the rear end is better than I expected, but not perfect. All the bolts go in without much drama. I wouldn’t be surprised if the bit of misalignment eventually kills the rear shock though.
- Clearance on the chainstay to the chain is tighter than I’d like. I normally run a 30T chainring, but I think I’ll need to use a 32+. I am using a 10-45 cassette. I could move to something like a 12-50 to help with clearance AND compensate for the bigger chainring. For now I have a 34T installed that I just happened to have laying around.
- Tire clearance is a hair tighter than I’d like. It actually clears, but not with much margin. I have adjustable chainstay length, and if I run into problems I’ll put it in the longer setting. No big deal.
- Internal cable routing for the dropper is terrible, but works. Enough said about that for now.
Here’s some photos! I have a number of little things to fix, but its ridable. Will get it on dirt this weekend. I’ll certainly update if anything breaks.
