Does the bike currently have dimpled stays? If so, what do they look like?
I agree with @bulgie that you probably want to avoid a pinch point at the top and bottom of the stays. Those chainstays started as round tubes, so when they are ovalized, there tops and bottoms already have a lot of cold work.
Some of those “sharp” dimples look uncomfortably sharp to me. Perhaps a rounded 1/2in thick plate would be a good middle ground.
Do you have a 3D printer? I have had some luck making some chill dimples with a 3D printer.
