Thank you.
How much rear travel you aiming for?
140ish. Full 29er.
Where I ride that is perfect amount travel.
I need to work on my F360 to get it modeled.will take me a while.
I would make something like that. It has 5mm longer chainstays, 1.5 degree Slacker HA and 5-6% more progression. No idea if it would make it better, than my current bike, but this is what I would like to try.
Being 6’5” and 240 pounds it will be bigger than your bike. I have an extra 230x65mm could shock I would like to use for it.
May need be 150mm rear with that shock.
You need some big tubes.
Yes. I have online metal in my state that sell 4130 straight gauge tubing. So I will use that.
Got a new welder at work. Ideal Expert TIG 220 AC/DC
Welds nicely, have mostly done thick materials.
Thought I try it on bicycle tubing. 26 torch is uncomfortable, but I loved pulse welding. This is my first time.
I think I need to pull my filler out a little faster, that is why I have some spots in the middle.
How does it look for more experienced welders?
Also tried new diamond hole cutter, cost me 5 euros and did a nice job, but probably wont last long.
Pretty good, gas coverage is good, you have to get into a rhythm with your filler rod, like you say, maybe out faster/cleaner but keep the filler rod inside the gas envelope.
If you have a foot pedal you can try pulsing the weld with that
Havent seen many mtb builds this year.
My frame has to live another season.
Just serviced my suspension and made her ready for a new season.
Trail setup.
145/140mm. Mullet. Lighter. Very low 325mm BB height. 50mm rise bars. Should be fun.
Didn’t like air shock
Back to coil. Been fiddling with it since last year, and Finally feel like it is very good.
Many use same length shock and most basic single pivot - might be useful to copy my tune if you want to ride coil. Old RS coil can be bought for cheap now. New has preloaded piston, so it is not better.
Base valve re-shim gets rid of preloaded shims so you will never feel harshness, It just goes very stiff if you max the compression knob.
Compression tune is usually M and I find it too stiff. L is good, mine is a little different.
Rebound is usually M - it is also preloaded, so digressive and It felt unpredictable.
I did try LNM, but it rode very high and pushed front down, pedalling over roots felt stiff, and on flat it was bobbing too much.
In the end I landed with LN (Fixed all my problems) - if I was heavier I’d go stiffer.
