Yep, I have already tried it but the bend radius I have is too narrow for me R15/16 (because I am usin 9.5mm tubing) so I will use the top part of the bender with a new 3D printed die and a custom rod of the correct size, in my mind it works like a charm 
For 1/2in tubing I believe the R is 1.5in
What radius is the bend you have there?
